Description

One of the participants in our learning group unexpectedly stumbled into a new hobby: Together with his best buddy, he started shooting handguns at a shooting club a few months ago - something he had never done before.
Handling the gun was a big challenge and for months he felt very clumsy in training among all the experienced shooters - especially as his friend, unlike him as a hunter, was already experienced in handling firearms and could therefore quickly keep up with the other shooters.

On the one hand, he really enjoyed shooting, but on the other, he was always on the verge of giving up because he often felt overwhelmed and questioned his ability to handle the weapon safely - especially as he was desperate to keep up with his buddy, who was allowed to take part in IPSC training (i.e. shooting on a course on the move and on time) after just a short time. So he finally signed up for a training course. He wanted to give his all to be admitted to IPSC training, but secretly expected that he would probably fail. However, it went surprisingly well and he was praised by the trainer for his safe gun handling, which filled him with great pride.

Over the next few days, he noticed that the foremost middle finger joint on both hands suddenly started to hurt - particularly badly when he put weight on it. A symptom that he had never had before - and on both sides of both fingers at the same time. He was able to rule out overuse, as he had not experienced any problems, especially in the initial phase when the new strain was much more unfamiliar.

He immediately realized that this must be a conflict-resolved phase of the neuromesodermal tissue. And with such a synchronous, extremely specific manifestation, the cause must also be easy to find.

So he thought about what unusual things had been going on in his life over the previous weeks and months - the only thing that immediately came to mind was his new hobby at the shooting range.
And then the connection was immediately clear to him:

In the first days and weeks as a shooting novice, he had experienced a drop in self-esteem when handling the gun, i.e. a “I'm not good enough at holding/handling/hitting the gun”. The middle fingers are essential for stabilizing the gun when shooting. When things went so well on the course and he was praised for it, that was the solution to this small conflict in the musculoskeletal system. The pain slowly got better after a few weeks.

Note: Have you also had exciting experiences with the 5BL? If so, it would be great if you could send us an anonymized report so that we can publish it in the archive and everyone can benefit from your experiences. Thank you very much!
